Homemade Lemon Mint Iced Tea (No Added Sugar)

A crystal-clear, refreshing iced tea steeped with fresh mint and natural lemon — zero added sugar, almost carb-free. The perfect everyday hydration drink for T1D: flavourful, satisfying, and easy to dose.

Values for 1 glasses

Ingredients

  • 250 ml water
  • 0.75 green or black tea bags
  • 0.5 lemons, juiced
  • 5 g fresh mint leaves
  • 1 lemon slices (for serving)
  • 3 ice cubes

Instructions

    Bring 500ml of water to a near-boil. Remove from heat, add tea bags, and steep 3–4 minutes. Remove bags without squeezing.

    Pour the tea into a large pitcher. Add the remaining 500ml of cold water, lemon juice, and mint leaves.

    Refrigerate until cold (at least 30 min), or place in freezer for 10 minutes for quick chilling.

    Serve over ice with a lemon slice and a sprig of fresh mint. Keeps up to 48h in the fridge.

Diabetes tips

Very few carbs per glass, from natural lemon juice — minimal glycemic impact. Enter the carbs into your usual dosing method. This is an excellent alternative to sodas and fruit juices for daily hydration. Note: if you add honey or sweetener, enter those additional carbs too.
